The LITEBOOK ELITE'S unique combination of blue and green light results in a bright white light, just like the sun and generates no UV radiation. The LITEBOOK ELITE has been fully eye safety tested by expert Dr. David H. Sliney, PhD, who concluded "The Litebook Model 1.2 and diffused LED emitters do not pose a potential hazard to the eye under any realistic viewing conditions."
Each of the 24 bright white light LEDs each has a Fresnel lens to focus the light and a diffuser to reduce glare with a gentle 5 second build-up to full illumination.
The LITEBOOK ELITE is rated at 5,000 LUX at 20cm, with the normal usage distance being 45-60cm. However, there is a growing body of research that demonstrates that the effectiveness of light therapy is less dependent on the intensity (LUX) than on the wavelength of the light.
Numerous research reports on the same wavelengths of light emitted by the LITEBOOK ELITE, show they reduce melatonin while improving mood, and energy. Since the LEDs in LITEBOOK ELITE produce light with a peak in the effective wavelengths of 465 nm, most users find that they need LESS time (typically 15-20 minutes/day) with LITEBOOK ELITE than they did with the larger, 10,000 LUX units, despite the lower LUX rating due to its "targeted" efficiency.
These LEDs are rated to last up to 100,000 hours, and encased in an injection-moulded impact-resistant ABS plastic outer shell, making The LITEBOOK ELITE the most compact, lightweight, and durable light therapy device available, you can take anywhere!
The Rechargeable Lithium ION Battery gives 2 hours use per charge and there is an inbuilt battery level indicator, as well as a built in timer function that stores 15, 30, 45 or 60 minute treatment times.
With a worldwide AC mains adaptor (US/Europe/Australia/UK), the LITEBOOK ELITE is perfect for jet lag applications.
To use, for maximum benefit, position the LITEBOOK ELITE about 30-60cms away from the face ideally it should be offset at a 30 to 45 degree angle just like sun coming in a window.
The LITEBOOK ELITE'S light beam should be directed at the eyes with the eyes open. The light beam is at the optimum brightness to provide the maximum benefit. Do not stare or fix your gaze on the LIGHTBOOK light source, though it is not harmful to glance at it occasionally.
Typically you will recognise when you have received sufficient light by heightened feelings of alertness, energy, mood and well being.
